How It Works (The Formula)

This calculator uses the US Navy Method equations. The logic relies on the fact that fat distribution differs by gender and body parts.

For Men:
495 / (1.0324 - 0.19077 * log10(Waist - Neck) + 0.15456 * log10(Height)) - 450

For Women:
495 / (1.29579 - 0.35004 * log10(Waist + Hip - Neck) + 0.22100 * log10(Height)) - 450

Note: All measurements in the formula are converted to centimeters internally.

Practical Examples

Example 1: Average Indian Male

🇮🇳 Rahul from Delhi

  • Height: 175 cm | Waist: 90 cm | Neck: 38 cm

Example 2: Athletic Female

🇮🇳 Priya from Mumbai

  • Height: 162 cm | Waist: 68 cm | Hip: 95 cm | Neck: 34 cm
  • Calculation: Considers hip measurement for female fat distribution.
  • Result: ~24.8% Body Fat (Fitness Level)

Example 3: International Standard

🇺🇸 John from New York

  • Height: 5'10" | Waist: 34" | Neck: 16"
  • Calculation: Converted to metric first.
  • Result: ~16.2% Body Fat (Fit)

What is Body Fat Percentage?

Body Fat Percentage is the proportion of your total weight that comes from fat mass, distinct from muscle, bone, and water. Unlike BMI, which only looks at weight vs height, body fat percentage gives a true picture of your metabolic health.

Maintaining a healthy range reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and hormonal imbalances.
