How It Works
The Originality Analysis Method
The plagiarism checker performs a multi-step linguistic analysis on your text:
- Sentence Splitting: Your text is broken into individual sentences for granular analysis
- N-Gram Phrase Detection: The tool extracts 4-8 word phrases (n-grams) and checks them against a database of common non-unique patterns
- Repetition Analysis: Detects repeated structures, clichés, and overused academic/professional expressions
- Uniqueness Scoring: Calculates what percentage of your sentences contain flagged vs. original phrasing
- Visual Highlighting: Maps flagged phrases back to the original text and highlights them for easy identification
Uniqueness Score Formula
Uniqueness % = (Unique Sentences ÷ Total Sentences) × 100
A sentence is flagged when it contains phrases matching common non-original patterns. The higher your uniqueness score, the more original your writing is considered to be.

What is a Plagiarism Checker?
A plagiarism checker is a tool that analyzes written content and identifies phrases, sentences, or passages that match commonly used or non-original text patterns. It helps writers, students, educators, and publishers verify that their content is original before submission or publication.
Originality matters for two key reasons. First, academically: submitting copied or paraphrased work without attribution is a serious violation with real consequences. Second, for web content: search engines like Google penalize duplicate content and reward unique, high-quality writing. A high uniqueness score directly supports your SEO efforts.
Whether you're a student checking your thesis, a blogger verifying a guest post, a content writer delivering client work, or a business owner reviewing website copy—running a plagiarism check before publishing protects your reputation and ensures your content stands on its own merit.
