Key Features

🎓

Weighted GPA Calculation

Every subject is counted according to its credit value, so practicals, labs, and major papers affect the result correctly.

🧮

Instant Results

Once you enter credits and grades, the calculator returns GPA, total credits, and weighted grade points in one view.

Add More Subjects

You can add extra courses whenever needed, which is useful for semesters with electives or additional modules.

🔁

Easy Reset

The clear option removes all entered values and restores a clean form so you can recalculate in seconds.

🌍

Broad Academic Use

It works well for many colleges and universities where grade points and credits are used to build semester GPA.

📱

Mobile Friendly

The layout adjusts well on phones, tablets, and desktops, making it practical during result day or course planning.

Formula and How It Works

GPA is a weighted average, not a plain average of grade points. That means a subject with 4 credits has more effect on the final GPA than a subject with 2 credits. Many students make the mistake of averaging grades directly, which can produce the wrong number.

GPA = Σ(Credit × Grade Point) ÷ Σ(Credit)

Here, Credit means the academic weight assigned to a course, and Grade Point means the numerical value of your grade. For example, if one 3-credit course has grade point 9, that course contributes 27 weighted points. The calculator repeats this for all courses, adds the weighted points together, then divides by the total credits.

If a course has zero credits, it should not affect the GPA. If a failed course still carries credits, it usually remains part of the calculation with the assigned grade point, often zero. Because institutions follow different grade labels, this tool focuses on the grade point method that is commonly used in many systems.

Practical Examples

🇮🇳 Aditi — Delhi

Scenario: Aditi took 4 subjects with credits 4, 3, 3, and 2. Her grade points were 9, 8, 7, and 10.

Calculation: (4×9) + (3×8) + (3×7) + (2×10) = 36 + 24 + 21 + 20 = 101 weighted points. Total credits = 12.

Verified Result: GPA = 101 ÷ 12 = 8.42.

🇮🇳 Rohan — Pune

Scenario: Rohan had 5 courses with credits 3, 4, 2, 3, and 2. His grade points were 8, 6, 9, 7, and 8.

Calculation: 24 + 24 + 18 + 21 + 16 = 103 weighted points. Total credits = 14.

Verified Result: GPA = 103 ÷ 14 = 7.36.

🇮🇳 Sneha — Bengaluru

Scenario: Sneha completed theory and lab courses with credits 4, 4, 1, and 3. Her grade points were 10, 8, 9, and 8.

Calculation: 40 + 32 + 9 + 24 = 105 weighted points. Total credits = 12.

Verified Result: GPA = 105 ÷ 12 = 8.75.

🇺🇸 Daniel — Boston

Scenario: Daniel used equivalent grade points for 4 classes with credits 3, 3, 4, and 2, and points 4, 3, 4, and 2.

Calculation: 12 + 9 + 16 + 4 = 41 weighted points. Total credits = 12.

Verified Result: GPA = 41 ÷ 12 = 3.42.

What Is GPA Calculator?

A GPA calculator helps you convert subject-wise performance into one weighted academic score. Instead of checking each course manually and multiplying credits by grade points on paper, you can enter the values and get the answer instantly. That matters when you're reviewing your semester, planning scholarship applications, or estimating academic standing before official reports arrive.

For students in India, GPA often appears alongside SGPA, CGPA, percentage conversions, and university-specific grade scales. International learners may use 4-point, 5-point, or 10-point systems. The core idea stays the same: multiply the course credit by the grade point, add everything, and divide by total credits.

This tool is especially useful when you want a clean weighted result without spreadsheet formulas. It also helps reduce common mistakes such as forgetting lab credits, excluding backlog subjects incorrectly, or using a simple average where a weighted average is required.
