How It Works

Total Fees = (Sale Price × 6.5%) + Processing Fee + Listing Fee ($0.20)

The transaction fee applies to the entire amount the buyer sends (Item Price + Shipping). The processing fee is roughly 3% + fixed fee depending on the bank. Finally, we deduct any product costs you entered to show your true Net Profit.

Practical Examples

Scenario 1: Handmade Mug (India)
🇮🇳 Priya sells a mug for ₹1500 (+ ₹100 shipping).
She bought materials for ₹400.
Result: After fees (~₹180), she keeps ~₹920 profit.

Scenario 2: Digital Planner (Global)
🌍 Alex sells a planner PDF for $5.00.
No physical cost (only time).
Result: Low margin due to high fixed transaction fees on low-value items.

Scenario 3: Custom Jewelry (High Ticket)
🇺🇸 Sarah sells earrings for $120 + Free Shipping.
Materials cost $20.
Result: Higher revenue allows better bulk buying, resulting in a 60% margin.

What is the payment processing fee?
In India, the fee is approximately 3% plus a fixed charge per transaction. In the US, it is 2.9% + $0.30 for card payments.

No. You pay a $0.20 (approx ₹16) listing fee upfront. When an item sells, you do not pay another listing fee for that single order.

Sellers earning less than $10,000/year can opt-out. High-volume sellers are automatically enrolled, paying a 12-15% commission on ads-driven sales.

This tool currently uses standard percentage rates applicable to the platform generally. For precise local currency conversion, please adjust manually if rates differ significantly in your region.
How do I increase my profit margins on Etsy?
Use our calculator before setting prices. Aim for a minimum 50% gross margin to cover marketing, overheads, and unexpected returns.
What happens if my item doesn't sell?
